Charlie visits Y2

On Thursday Charlie came to visit Y2 as part of our English work about dogs. We had a great afternoon where groups came out to see Charlie and others back in class made origami dogs, sketched Charlie from pictures, completed dog wordsearches and used fact books to find out more about Lhasa Apso's (the breed that Charlie is). The children were very kind, calm and sensible with Charlie. They found out lots about him. Charlie licked most of the children, was fed by them and of course recieved lots of strokes which he loved. Well done Y2 a great afternoon!

On Wednesday 16th January, the Sports hall Athletics Team went to Concord Sports Centre. They were amonst 8 schools competing for the title of City Champions. The team had competed in 2 previous competitions to make it to the City Finals. The children on the day were brilliant. When the results were counted up were came 8th. Although we do not qualify for he South Yorkshire competition - we are very proud to have been at the city finals. Hotshot Basketball Stars!

Tonight 10 of our Y4 children represented St Marie's by being part of the Basketball Team. We had to play against four other schools. We worked hard as a team showing great skills such as passing, dribbling and shooting. We won three games and drew one which meant we came second overall. We have qualified now for the Finals in January! Well done team and thank you to all the parents for supporting!

Awesome Athletes!

On Wednesday 21st November we took some children from Y4, Y5 and Y6 to complete in the Sportshall Athletics Cluster Competition. Our athletes showed amazing skills in running, jumping and throwing. More importantly our children showed fantastic team work cheering each other on. The children worked hard and the night and came in 1st position. This means we have now qualified for the  Sportshall Athletics Final in December. Well done to all the children involved and thank you to parents for supporting, cheering on and giving lifts!
