Y3 Homework Friday 15th June 2018

Your child will be bringing home a worksheet on possessive apostrophes and apostrophes in contractions. Possessive apostrophes show ownership. If the item belongs to someone the apostrophe comes before the ‘s’, e.g. The girl’s coat.
Apostrophes also replace missing letters in contracted words, e.g. did not would become didn’t and the ‘o’ would be replaced by an apostrophe.

Please work through the times tables grid with your child. There are missing numbers that the children should use their times tables knowledge to work out. Please note that the numbers are not all in order.

Please continue to read regularly with your child. Reward points will be given to children who record what they have read in their reading diaries. Please ask your child to tell you about what they have read. This will help to ensure your child can understand the text they are reading.

We are currently learning all about plants in Science. Please play the game, that involves ‘building’ a plant with your child. This will embed what we have previously covered in class.

During their morning work, the children have been looking at adding suffixes that begin with a vowel (er/ed/ing).

Please look through the workbook with the children, complete any unfinished work and practise the spellings. The spellings are:

gardener, gardening, limited, limiting, offering, offered, benefited, benefiting, focused, focusing

Please check that your child can spell these words and use them correctly in a sentence. There will be a spelling test on these words.
