Science and History at Woolsthorpe Manor!

Featured Science and History at Woolsthorpe Manor!

On Wednesday Y6 had a fabulous day out at Woolsthorpe Manor; the birthplace of Sir Isaac Newton. Highlights of the day included a guided tour of his home, including the room in which he tested out his colour spectrum theory with a prism, and of course the famous apple tree.

In the science barn, children learnt about forces including gravity and friction, and blended coloured lights to create white light.

During a mirror workshop, the children used torches and mirrors to reflect a beam of light through various holes and around obstacles in a box, consolidating their work on angles of incidence and reflection.

All the volunteers were very impressed with the children’s scientific knowledge and the quality of the questions they asked.
