Leaf rubbing

Last week we went into the woods. We have been learning about the artist Andy Goldsworthy who creates sculptures using natural materials. We decided to go and look carefully at the patterns in nature. We learned how to create leaf and tree rubbings. We loved seeing the patterns that we had created.

Weaving with nature

This week Year 1 have been looking at weaving as part of our art topic. We have looked at the work of Annie Albers who is a famous textile artist. We saw how she uses weaving with looms to make her textile art. We decided to have a go at making our own. We made our own looms using sticks and wool. We then needed to go foraging for some natural materials to weave. Finally we wove our natural materials onto our looms. We have made an outdoor art exhibition outside our classroom. Have a look at the photos to see how we got  on.

Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 Thankfulness liturgy

This afternoon, Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 all gathered together for a virtues liturgy. Our current virtue is thankfulness. We listened to scripture from Matthew's Gospel that talked about us sharing our talents. We thought about what our talents were and stood up to show others around us what we thought we were good at. We have now been given a mission to share our gifts and talents with those around us. Well done to all the children for being so respectful during our liturgy and for joining in with the responses and singing. A special well done to Reception for their first assembly.
