Year 1 Christingle

This morning Y1 held a Christingle Service. We used the Christingles we made yesterday. We thought about the meanings behind the orange representing the World, the four sticks with fruit/sweets on representing the 4 seasons, the red ribbon for the blood of Jesus and God's love and the candle representing Jesus being the light of the World. Before we started we turned off the lights. It was quite dark in the classroom but as we light our Advent wreath and then our Christingles we could see how Jesus' light and love was present with us. We said the Christingle prayer and sung 'Love shone down' and 'Come and join the celebration' to end.  We then blew out our Christingles. It was wonderful to see how careful all of the children were and how much understanding they have. The singing was beautiful too.
