Charlie visits Y1

On Friday afternoon Charlie the dog came to visit Year 1 as part of our science topic 'Animals including humans'. We had an afternoon of dog activities including being with Charlie and finding out more about dogs and how to look after them. The children were also taught how to draw a dog and used a non fiction book about dogs to find out more about the different breeds.
All of the children were great with Charlie. They remembered to stay calm, be gentle, hold out their hand for Charlie to sniff first before stroking him. The children also had chance to feed Charlie from their hand and helped to make sure he had enough water. Year 1 were wonderful at looking after Charlie whilst he was with us for the afternoon.
